A Bola reports that Manchester City have a potential interest in Iván Fresneda. No formal approach has yet been made to Alvalade, but there have been some inquiries for the player. The SAD is willing to sell Fresneda's registration in the summer for a considerable, currently undefined amount, rather than for his €80M release clause. His transfer from Valladolid cost €9M.

Transfermarkt reports that Manchester City are behind Arsenal in the pursuit of Iván Fresneda. The 21-year-old defender has had an excellent season in Portugal, and Sporting CP will probably sell him this summer.

Manchester City is believed to be a significant competitor to Arsenal for Fresneda. The club may have an advantage because club director Hugo Viana previously brought Fresneda to Sporting and still admires him.

Manchester City are searching for a new right-back in January, having not replaced Kyle Walker and using midfielder Matheus Nunes in the position. According to a November 6th report from TEAMtalk transfer insider Dean Jones, the club continues to view Sporting CP's Iván Fresneda as a top target. Fresneda is a 21-year-old from Spain who joined the Portuguese club in August 2023 and has a contract until 2028. In the 2025/2026 season, he has made 9 appearances in Liga Portugal. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €8.00m.
