Ismaila Simpara, a 26-year-old Malian defender from Stade Malien, was close to joining Club Africain after arriving in Tunisia on a Sunday to finalize the transfer. The move was requested by coach Maher Kanzari, who had observed the player during Stade Malien's African Champions League matches against Espérance de Tunis the previous season. Simpara had a principle agreement from his club to join the Tunisian side, with a contract planned to run until June 30, 2029. However, an initial medical check raised concerns, leading to a second examination on Tuesday which was supervised by club president Mohsen Trabelsi. These tests confirmed effects from an old injury that could compromise his immediate availability. Consequently, Club Africain decided to stop the recruitment process and end negotiations.
