Hans Kraay junior revealed that FC Twente director Erik ten Hag is very impressed with Ismaël Baouf, a nineteen-year-old Moroccan-Belgian defender from SC Cambuur. Kraay stated that he had recommended Baouf to Ten Hag a few months ago and advised him to observe the player. After speaking with Ten Hag again on the preceding Sunday, Kraay learned that the club had followed Baouf and considered him to be very good. However, Ten Hag explained that a move was unlikely as they currently have Nijstad, Lemkin, and Pröpper. Based on this, Kraay concluded that a transfer to FC Twente will not happen. Baouf joined from Anderlecht last summer. Kraay also believes Baouf is an interesting prospect for many clubs and thinks he cannot be signed for less than five million euros. Baouf's contract with Cambuur runs until mid-2028 and includes an option for an extra year. In the current Keuken Kampioen Divisie season, Baouf has made 24 appearances, scoring 6 goals and providing 1 assist. His market value is estimated at €2.50m by Transfermarkt. In addition to the interest from FC Twente, several other clubs, including Saint-Étienne, LOSC Lille, and Club Brugge, have been linked with the player.
