José Rivero leaving Cruz Azul?

According to Récord, Ignacio Rivero is departing from Cruz Azul for Xolos de Tijuana. Cruz Azul published a video to bid farewell to the player, who was captain until the previous Apertura 2025. On Tuesday the 6th, Ignacio Rivero confirmed his departure on his social media. There are different versions regarding the move: one states that 'La Máquina' decided to release him to retain Mateusz Bogusz and register Miguel Borja, while another says that Ignacio Rivero left because the offer from Tijuana was more appealing. Ignacio Rivero is returning to the club that brought him to Liga MX in 2018, and Xolos de Tijuana welcomed him back with a video compilation of his best moments during his initial period with the club.
Carlos Ponce de León has confirmed that Ignacio Rivero, a 33-year-old Uruguayan central midfielder, will leave the capital institution to return to Xolos de Tijuana.
