Rayados de Monterrey has reached an agreement with Chicago Fire to sign Belgian striker Hugo Cuypers for a total of $8 million, a fee composed of $7.5 million in fixed payments and $500,000 in variables. The clubs concluded negotiations after several days of discussions, according to César Luis Merlo. The 29-year-old player, who joined the Fire in February 2024, had also agreed to personal terms and is expected to sign a three-season contract pending medical exams. Cuypers' performance, leading the MLS scoring chart with 13 goals and one assist in 11 appearances, had attracted interest from other clubs, including teams from the MLS such as St. Louis City, before Monterrey finalized the deal. According to Transfermarkt, the former Belgium U19 international has a current market value of €10.00m.
