Harry Ashfield had a medical at London Road during Peterborough United's draw against Stevenage, and subsequently joined the club on a permanent deal late on Tuesday evening. Ashfield signed a three-year contract after the clubs agreed an undisclosed fee. Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson also wished Harry all the best on his move.

Harry Ashfield has joined Peterborough United from Wrexham on a permanent deal. The agreement includes a sell-on clause and 'matching rights' for Wrexham. These rights give the club the option to match any valid offer made by another club before a final deal can be signed, should Peterborough decide to sell Ashfield. Manager Phil Parkinson stated that Wrexham received a very good offer from Peterborough, which Ashfield was keen to explore for the opportunity to play in League One. Parkinson also said that Ashfield is very keen to pursue his ambition of joining the Welsh Under-21 team and understands that he needs to play at the highest possible level to achieve that.

Pete O’Rourke reports that Peterborough faces competition to sign 20-year-old Wrexham midfielder Harry Ashfield, as Barnsley, Rotherham, Gillingham, and St Mirren have also made offers for the player. The Wales U21 international is keen to leave Wrexham, and it is reported that he feels his pathway at the club is blocked. Ashfield joined Wrexham in July 2024, and his contract is set to expire in June 2027. His market value on Transfermarkt is €150k.
