Following a strong start to the season for Monza, where he has become a key player for Juric's team, Gustavo Varela is attracting interest. According to market rumors, both Lazio and Milan are attentively monitoring the development of the 21-year-old Portuguese-Cape Verdean centre-forward, who came through Benfica's youth system. Varela, who has 7 caps and 4 goals for Portugal's U21 team, joined Monza from Benfica in July 2026 for a reported fee of €2.5 million. His contract runs until 2030, and reports from October 2026 mention a buy-back clause for Benfica valued at approximately €10 million. His current Transfermarkt market value is €5.00m.
