French club Auxerre has attempted to sign 21-year-old Portuguese attacker Gustavo Varela, who spent the last season on loan at Gil Vicente. The player has also attracted interest from Serie A, with both Parma and Venezia interested in him. Varela, who has been capped five times for Portugal's U21 team, scored six goals and provided three assists in 32 Liga Portugal appearances during the 2025/2026 season. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €3.00m.
