Gustavo Puerta leaving Hull City?
Gustavo Puerta has been officially unveiled as a new signing for Racing de Santander. The director of the club called the acquisition a 'lottery win' and confirmed they paid substantially less than the reported 3.5 to 4 million euros. His contract extends to 2029, with Leverkusen retaining a percentage of the player's rights. Puerta was previously at Hull City, which had a mandatory purchase clause, but an unusual sanction made him available again. Racing capitalized on difficulties with a potential transfer to Russia, which arose from sanctions, by making an offer to Leverkusen that was accepted.
Gustavo Puerta, a 22-year-old Colombian midfielder, whose purchase option by Hull City could not be exercised due to a transfer ban, will leave Bayer. He is of interest to PAOK Saloniki and FC Copenhagen, with an additional interest from a Bundesliga club. Both a loan and a permanent transfer are possible. His market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €3.50m.
