Reading have signed 21-year-old English midfielder George Earthy from West Ham United for an undisclosed fee on a three-year contract. He is the fifth player to join Reading during the summer transfer window. Earthy came through the academy at the East London club, for which he made five first-team appearances. He also had two loan spells at Bristol City, where he played 51 times. Reading manager Leam Richardson stated to the club website that he was pleased to sign a talented young player with experience at both Premier League and Championship level. Richardson also described Earthy as technically very good and creative, and added that the player is eager to play and improve. The midfielder has two caps for England's U21 team and his current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €1.80m.
