Portuguesa has announced the signing of 32-year-old Brazilian-Portuguese midfielder Gabriel Pires as their first reinforcement for the upcoming season, with the player signing a contract until the end of 2026. Pires, who was most recently with Greek club Panserraikos until August, joins to compete in the Paulistão which begins in January. The player stated that the club's project and the opportunity to participate in the strong Paulistão competition attracted him. The vice-president of football for Portuguesa SAF, Tadeu Oliveira Júnior, noted that Pires has international experience from playing in major leagues and will be very helpful to the club.
