Palmeiras has submitted an official offer to Grêmio for their 25-year-old goalkeeper, Gabriel Grando. Initially, Palmeiras had inquired about Grando last week, which subsequently developed into a formal offer. This information was originally reported by GZH and later confirmed by ESPN. Although the specific financial details of the offer remain undisclosed, sources suggest that the São Paulo-based club is eager to conclude the negotiations promptly. Their goal is to finalize the transfer within the special FIFA window occurring from June 1st to 10th this year, enabling Grando's registration for the Club World Cup. Should Grando join Palmeiras, he will vie for the starting goalkeeper position alongside Weverton, who is currently the first choice, and Marcelo Lomba, the immediate backup. Both Weverton and Lomba are experienced players; Weverton is 37 years old, while Lomba is 38, with his contract set to expire at the end of the year. At present, Grando serves as the backup goalkeeper at Grêmio, with Tiago Volpi as the first-choice goalkeeper. Grando's contract with the Porto Alegre club is valid until December 2026.
