FC Universitatea Cluj and Maccabi Netanya have reached an agreement for the loan of defensive midfielder Gabriel Simion, a deal finalized on the last day of the transfer window in Israel. The 28-year-old footballer is loaned until the end of the 2026/2027 season, and the Israeli club also holds an option to buy. On Facebook, Maccabi Netanya confirmed the transfer, stating that the Romanian midfielder will arrive on a one-season loan that includes a future purchase option. Simion's contract with “U” Cluj was set to run until the summer of 2028. In its announcement, Maccabi Netanya mentioned that the player developed at the youth academy of Steaua București (FCSB) and previously played for Astra Giurgiu and Aris Limassol in Cyprus. Simion joined FC Universitatea Cluj in August 2022. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €800k.
