Finley Barbrook Transfer from Ipswich Town U21 to Colchester United
Finley Barbrook has joined Colchester United from Ipswich Town on loan until the end of the season. Barbrook said that the move had been in progress for a long time and that he thought he would be at the club earlier in the window but had to wait due to other circumstances. He added that he is very pleased to finalize the move.
Colchester United head coach Danny Cowley said he has been looking at Fin Barbrook since the 21-year-old's loan at Sutton in the National League last season. Cowley stated that they had to be incredibly patient as Barbrook is one they identified last season, and that he first saw him play four or five times for Sutton where Barbrook had an incredible year. The U's head coach added that they really wanted to bring him in during the summer, but he had a strong pre-season, playing in all the first-team games for Ipswich, and had many League One options. Cowley continued that it was fortunate for them that Lincoln have done so well, which meant Barbrook did not get as much game time as he would have liked. He also stated that they were hopeful they would be able to bring him in towards the end of December to train, but he returned to Ipswich and joined up with their first team again. Cowley said that they were very excited to have him now.
Colchester United have signed Ipswich Town midfielder Fin Barbrook on loan for the remainder of the season.
Ipswich Town's English midfielder Finley Barbrook, 21, is in talks with Colchester United about a loan switch. The academy graduate was recently recalled from a season-long loan at Lincoln City, where he made three appearances for the League One club. As all of his appearances came in the EFL Trophy and not a major competition, he is eligible to play for a third club this season. For the 2025/2026 season in Premier League 2, he has made 3 appearances and scored 1 goal.
