FC Twente, Belgian club Cercle Brugge, and American side Colorado Rapids are competing to sign 20-year-old Filip Thorvaldsen from Vålerenga. Cercle Brugge is reportedly in the strongest position to sign him. The transfer is said to cost sixty million Norwegian kroner, approximately six million euros, a fee that would make Thorvaldsen Vålerenga's most expensive sale in history. There has been previous interest in the player from abroad; the club rejected a bid from Lille last winter and, according to TV 2, another from the Swiss club Basel. Thorvaldsen wants to move abroad. Vålerenga's technical director stated he would be surprised if the player remained at the club when the transfer window closes in September, if a deal satisfactory to both parties is made. However, RTV Oost reports that no bid has been made yet, although Jan Streuer has attended a match to watch Thorvaldsen.
