Cercle Brugge is competing with FC Twente and the American club Colorado Rapids for Vålerenga's Filip Thorvaldsen, with the Belgian club suggested to be in the best position to sign him. The reported asking price is sixty million Norwegian kroner, around six million euros, which would be a record outgoing transfer for Vålerenga. The player has been monitored by foreign clubs for some time, and Vålerenga rejected a bid from Lille last winter. The club's sporting director previously turned down an offer from the Swiss club Basel. It is also stated that Thorvaldsen is keen to move abroad. Vålerenga's technical director told a Norwegian broadcaster he would be surprised if the player remained at the club past the September transfer deadline, adding that any deal must satisfy both the club and the player. Separately, RTV Oost reports that Jan Streuer has watched Thorvaldsen, but no bid has been made yet.
