Félix Torres Transfer from Corinthians to Santos Laguna
ESPN BR has reported on the ongoing financial dispute between Santos Laguna and Corinthians concerning the transfer of Félix Torres. Santos Laguna has rejected Corinthians' proposal to settle a debt of R$ 34 million related to the acquisition of Félix Torres. Corinthians had proposed to pay 50% upfront and the remainder in installments, utilizing R$ 14 million from a release clause paid by Bahia for Kauê Furquim. However, Santos Laguna is insisting on receiving at least 70% upfront. As a result of this refusal, Corinthians is currently under a transfer ban imposed by FIFA. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) had set a deadline for Corinthians until 23:59 (Brasília time) on the previous Monday to settle the debt and avoid the ban. This deadline was not met, leading to the immediate enforcement of the sanction. Santos Laguna has remained steadfast in their demand for an upfront payment, referring to past unresponsive interactions with Corinthians during the previous management. Should Corinthians succeed in making the payment or reaching an agreement, the transfer ban will be automatically lifted.
