Facundo Pellistri leaving Panathinaikos?
A rumor in Moscow at New Year's indicated that a major Russian club had met all of Panathinaikos' terms for the purchase of Facundo Pellistri, but the Uruguayan winger is unwilling to leave Panathinaikos at this time because it is a World Cup season. According to Russian sources, the club might return with more persuasive proposals, directed mainly towards Pellistri. Panathinaikos paid 6,000,000 euros to Manchester United in August 2024 to acquire 55% of Pellistri, and Manchester United retained influence over where this 55% is sold.
Facundo Pellistri, a 23-year-old Uruguayan winger, is reportedly high on Club América's list as they look to strengthen their wing positions. Initially, the Mexican club attempted to acquire Denis Bouanga from Los Angeles FC, but that did not materialize, leading them to consider Pellistri. Pellistri is a key player for Panathinaikos, with whom he has a contract until the summer of 2028. Club América would need to invest significantly as Panathinaikos had previously spent around 6 million euros to acquire 50% of Pellistri's rights.
According to a report from Mexico, Club América has Facundo Pellistri on their radar as a potential replacement for Brian Rodriguez, who is leaving to play in Europe. The attributes of the Uruguayan winger particularly appeal to the team's coach, André Jardine, who has recommended that the club's management initiate exploratory talks with the player's representatives. Pellistri is under contract with Panathinaikos until 2028 and in his first year with the club, he made 35 appearances, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
