Evagoras Antoniou, a 23-year-old Cypriot centre-back, has signed a three-year contract to return to his formative club, AEL Limassol. The move occurred less than three months after he joined FC Argeș from APOEL Nicosia at the beginning of June. During this period, he did not make a single appearance for the Romanian side and was an unused substitute for the first six league games. The transfer to AEL was free, as was his arrival at Argeș, but the Romanian club retained a percentage of any potential future sale. Antoniou decided to find a new team because coach Bogdan Andone gave him no opportunities. Consequently, he accepted a lower salary at AEL than the one stipulated in the contract with the Romanian club. The international defender has two caps for Cyprus and has a current market value of €350k, according to Transfermarkt.
