Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Gyasi, 32, was nearly signed by Ascoli during the final part of the summer transfer window because Palermo considered him not to be a key part of coach Filippo Inzaghi's plans. The transfer was not completed, and the player stayed at Palermo, which he had joined two months prior in July 2026. This prevented sporting director Carlo Osti from signing Iker Almena from Al-Qadisiya and Luca Mazzitelli from Como, because the squad position that would have been created by Gyasi's departure was not made available. Gyasi has received three caps for Ghana and, according to Transfermarkt, has a current market value of €800k.
