Journalist Amir Hesham has stated that Egyptian club Al Ahly is targeting Dominique Mendy, a 26-year-old Senegalese international who is able to play as a defensive or central midfielder. He is currently with Al Shorta in Iraq, a club he joined in August 2025, and his contract will expire at the end of the current season. Mendy is reportedly considered a priority for Al Ahly as a replacement for Malian player Aliou Dieng. Dieng is expected to join FC Valencia this summer, a move that Africafoot exclusively reported. Transfermarkt estimates Mendy's market value to be €500,000.
