Nearly two weeks after stopping their attempt to sign Domingos Duarte, a 31-year-old Portuguese defender, São Paulo has resumed talks with the player and is now close to reaching an agreement. This is the third time the club's board has negotiated with the player's representatives, and they have advanced with an offer lower than their previous one. The expectation is for the signing to be completed this Monday, July 13, for a fee of approximately 1.1 million euros (R$ 6.4 million). The board is proceeding with caution because of the history of the negotiations, which are intended to fulfill a request from manager Dorival Jr. to reinforce the defense. Duarte, who has three caps for Portugal, has also been linked with Deportivo La Coruña and Olympiakos Piraeus. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €800k.
