Attacker Djylian N’Guessan, an 18-year-old of French and Ivorian nationality, has left AS Saint-Etienne to join Brest on loan for the 2026-2027 season, a move that was confirmed on a Thursday. This loan was arranged although an expected transfer to Liverpool for the player has not been finalized. The move will allow the French youth international, who has seven caps for the France U20 team, to gain playing time in Ligue 1 before a potential move to the Reds. His contract at Saint-Etienne is valid until June 2027, and his current market value is €4.00m, according to Transfermarkt. It was reported in August 2026 that Liverpool had agreed to a transfer fee of approximately €5 million for the player. Previously, in December 2025, reports claimed that an €8 million offer from Chelsea had been rejected. Saint-Étienne's asking price at that time was €12.5 million.
