Hertha BSC is considering a return for former player Derry Scherhant. According to a report from Bild, the club had already inquired about a loan for the German winger in the winter, but the request was rejected at that time. The report also states that only a loan deal would be feasible for the Berlin club, as they first need to generate a transfer surplus. A move for Scherhant could become a serious option again if Fabian Reese leaves the team. Reese is reportedly a target for clubs including VfL Wolfsburg. Scherhant previously moved to his current club, SC Freiburg, in July 2025 after they activated a two-million-euro release clause. For Freiburg, the 23-year-old has made 49 competitive appearances, but has only been in the starting lineup 15 times. The former Germany U21 international recorded five goals and two assists in 31 Bundesliga appearances in the 2025/2026 season. His current Transfermarkt market value is €7.50m.
