The Samara club Krylia Sovetov announced on their social media that they have signed the 28-year-old Russian midfielder Denis Makarov. The parties signed a one-year contract. Previous reports stated that the 28-year-old Makarov unilaterally terminated his contract with the Turkish club Kayserispor because of significant salary arrears and had also filed a complaint with FIFA.

According to Aleksey Babyr, Denis Makarov's agent, there are a couple of offers from abroad regarding Makarov's future.

In the 2025/26 season, he made 13 appearances in the Turkish Süper Lig and scored 3 goals in 8 appearances in the Russian Premier Liga.
