David Harrington is set to join Grimsby Town from Bolton Wanderers on an emergency loan to address a shortage of goalkeepers at the club, which arose after their first-choice keeper Christy Pym was injured in a match against Accrington Stanley. It is believed that Grimsby's request to the EFL for extenuating circumstances has been approved. The 26-year-old is expected to start his first game of the season on Saturday against Cheltenham Town. Harrington, a Welsh and Irish national who joined Bolton from Fleetwood Town last January but has yet to make a first-team appearance, had his position in the team's hierarchy of goalkeepers lowered at Wanderers following the arrival of Ireland international Gavin Bazunu before Tuesday's deadline. His contract with Bolton is due to expire in June 2028 and his current Transfermarkt market value is €150k.
