It is reported that Brentford are nearing an agreement for Darwin Guagua, an 18-year-old Ecuadorian midfielder from Independiente del Valle. The Premier League club had identified Guagua as a target and are said to be ahead of Championship club Birmingham City, who also had an interest in the player. Area Deportiva FM claimed via X that a move to West London for the teenager was very close. A potential transfer fee has not been disclosed. Sport Witness relayed a comment from Omar Machado which suggested that a recent 2-0 win against LDU Quito might have been Guagua's final match in Ecuadorian football. It is thought that if the transfer is finalized, he might initially play for Brentford's 'B team'. Guagua has two caps for Ecuador and joined Independiente del Valle in July 2025. His market value is currently listed as €2.00m on Transfermarkt.
