Curtis Nelson Transfer from Derby County to Milton Keynes Dons

Curtis Nelson, a 32-year-old English Centre-Back, has left Derby County and joined Milton Keynes Dons on a permanent deal. Nelson will link up with former Derby boss Paul Warne at the Sky Bet League Two side. Nelson stated that they are in a good position to push on and that the second half of the season will be key for them. He said it will be a busy period in January, and they have to make sure they keep building on the momentum that has already been built and get the job done. Nelson added that there is an aim in sight which is not going to change. Regarding working with Warne again, he added that he has a history with the manager and they had a great time when he was at Derby. Nelson said that when he got the opportunity to come back and work with him again, he thought he would take that opportunity. Warne said he is really pleased and that having worked with Nelson before makes the signing less of a risk. He stated that Nelson brings a lot of quality, is a threat in the air in both boxes which will help them, and is a really good organiser. Warne noted that he trained that day and the other players heard him pulling them around, which Warne considers great. As a coach, Warne wants leaders in his team, particularly to be successful. He added that Nelson is a really good player and person and has been welcomed warmly into the dressing room. Nelson has one cap for England U18, joined Derby in July 2023, and had a contract with the club until June 2026. He made two Championship appearances this season. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €300k. Before the transfer, it was reported that Plymouth Argyle, Burton Albion, and Mansfield Town were also interested in the player.
