Italian winger Cristian Buonaiuto, 33, who wanted to continue his career in Serie B, was close to joining Benevento where he would have accepted a lower salary. The transfer collapsed because an agreement on the severance pay could not be reached with his club, Padova. As a result of the failed move, Buonaiuto is now considered not needed by the club and, according to Il Mattino di Padova, will be excluded from the first-team squad to train separately until at least January. He joined Padova on February 1, 2025, and his contract is set to expire in June 2027. His current market value is €250k, according to Transfermarkt.
