Al Wahda announced on Thursday that it has signed Christian Benteke as a free agent. The club stated that the signing of the Belgian professional is part of the club management's plans to meet the team's needs and strengthen the factors of success in the next stage. Benteke announced on social media his departure from DC United at the beginning of the week, after three seasons in the United States. After his contract at D.C. United expired, Christian Benteke has chosen to continue his career at Al Wahda in the United Arab Emirates. In recent months, Benteke had been linked with several Belgian top clubs, including Club Brugge, KRC Genk, and RSC Anderlecht. Through official channels, Benteke expressed happiness to be part of Al Wahda and emphasized his determination to contribute to the ambitions of the club and the wishes of its supporters.

Former Belgian international Christian Benteke, a 35-year-old centre-forward, will continue his career in the United Arab Emirates, where he will join Al Wahda. Benteke moves to the Abu Dhabi club as a free agent after his three-year contract with the American team D.C. United concluded. The striker has 45 caps and 18 goals for the Belgian national team and his current market value is €1.50m, according to Transfermarkt. He had also been linked with a return to Belgium, and it was reported that both Club Brugge and Anderlecht were interested.
