Oxford United have started talks to sign Luton Town defender Christ Makosso. It is reported that the 21-year-old centre-back is keen to leave Kenilworth Road to return to the Championship, which is a higher level than where Luton currently play. Oxford boss Matt Bloomfield is said to admire the player greatly, having worked with him during his time in charge of Luton, and is eager to work with him again. Bloomfield was appointed manager at Luton shortly after Makosso joined the club from Belgian side RWDM last January. The Congo international has not consistently been in the starting lineup since Bloomfield was replaced in October. Oxford are looking to strengthen their defense to help them in their effort to avoid relegation from the Championship. Makosso, who has made 11 appearances in League One this season, is under contract until June 2029. According to Transfermarkt, he has a current market value of €850k.
