Chris Rigg leaving Sunderland?
The Sun reports on Sunderland's efforts to secure Chris Rigg with a lucrative contract amidst interest from rival clubs. Sunderland are prepared to make Chris Rigg one of the best-paid teens in the Premier League to ward off interest from Premier League rivals. Rigg, 18, has had two recent salary hikes and is already in the £20,000-a-week range, but he could now be getting almost double. Everton and West Ham have been watching developments, and top German sides were disappointed he did not play in last month’s Under-19 European Championship.
Crystal Palace are reportedly eager to win the race for the transfer of Sunderland wonderkid Chris Rigg this summer. Palace are now leading the charge for Rigg ahead of this summer, viewing him as someone who could be the next Michael Olise. Palace clearly did well to snap up Olise at a young age, with the French winger going on to become a star player for them before being sold to Bayern Munich for a major profit.
Manchester United are aware that £25million could land them Sunderland youngster Chris Rigg.
Regis Le Bris mentioned that the market is unpredictable and any decision to cash in on Chris Rigg and other young talents will not be taken by him. Interest is expected to mount if they continue performing well.
