FC Groningen, PSV, FC Utrecht, and SC Heerenveen were among several Dutch clubs interested in Cedric Hatenboer this summer. Lommel SK and the Greek club Panathinaikos were also among the clubs interested in the 21-year-old Dutch midfielder from Anderlecht. The player wanted to return to the Netherlands and signed a four-year contract with Sparta. The transfer fee was reportedly one million euros. Anderlecht had reportedly paid €2.5 million for him in January 2025. His previous loan club, Telstar, had a purchase option valued between €2 million and €2.5 million in the summer of 2026. Transfermarkt estimates his current market value to be €2.00m.
