Cédric Bakambu, a 35-year-old Congolese striker who also holds French citizenship, has officially signed with San Diego FC in Major League Soccer to play away from European football. The former Villarreal forward, who has previously played in Europe and Asia, has secured a contract with the American club until the end of the 2026 season. The agreement also includes an option for two additional years, which could potentially extend his stay until 2028. The forward has 72 caps and 21 goals for DR Congo and in the 2025/2026 LaLiga season, he made 18 appearances, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist. Before his move to the MLS, he was also linked with São Paulo. Transfermarkt currently estimates his value at €1.2 million.
