Rangers are now aiming to sign Widell quickly to ensure they sign him before Blackburn Rovers and Derby County, who are also interested in him.

Rangers are prepared to compete with English Championship club Derby County to sign Casper Widell. Widell is in the final year of his contract with Excelsior. According to sources, the Dutch club is willing to sell him for a fee of approximately £2-2.5 million this summer.

Derby County is reportedly interested in Casper Widell, who is Excelsior's 23-year-old Swedish captain and a central defender. Other clubs are also interested in Widell, including fellow Championship team Blackburn Rovers, which is monitoring the player, and the Scottish club Rangers FC. According to Transfermarkt, the defender has a transfer value of 1.5 million euros. Widell joined Excelsior in July 2023, is under contract until June 2027, and has been capped 12 times for the Sweden U21 team, scoring one goal.
