Cas Odenthal, a 25-year-old Dutch defender, may leave Sassuolo in January because he has not received playing time under Fabio Grosso since the team's promotion. Odenthal has previously been linked with Sampdoria and has also attracted interest from Avellino. Avellino is seeking to reinforce a defense that has been too easily breached. A potential deal could be aided by the positive relationship between Avellino and Sassuolo, which was strengthened by the summer transfers of Missori, Kumi, and D’Andrea. It is reported that an initial contact occurred between sporting director Mario Aiello and Francesco Palmieri during the Gran Galà del Calcio. Odenthal signed with Sassuolo in July 2024 on a contract that is valid until June 2027. Transfermarkt estimates his market value at €2.40m.
