It is understood that Portuguese club Benfica are strongly pursuing Bartosz Mazurek, a 19-year-old Polish midfielder from Red Bull Salzburg. Benfica held talks earlier in the year and reportedly still have a strong interest, viewing him as a potential long-term addition. However, they face competition from another Portuguese club, Porto, who also have a strong interest, and from Brighton & Hove Albion. Brighton has identified the player as one of their primary targets for the January transfer window. Despite this interest, a winter transfer is considered highly unlikely because Salzburg has a contract with Mazurek until 2031 and would probably require a significant fee. A transfer in the summer of 2027 is viewed as more probable. Mazurek has two caps for the Poland U21 team and joined the Austrian club in July 2026 for a fee that was reported to be €6.0 million. His current market value is estimated by Transfermarkt to be €10.00m.
