Bayer Leverkusen has loaned 19-year-old centre-back Axel Tape to La Liga club UD Levante. Tape was signed on a free transfer from Paris St. Germain one year ago and played eight games for Bayer Leverkusen. Simon Rolfes, Managing Director of Sport at Bayer Leverkusen, stated that the club has high hopes for Axel Tape, who faced challenges in his first year due to injuries and strong competition for his position. Rolfes added that with his speed, athleticism, and great versatility, they definitely see more potential in the player.

Axel Tape will join Levante on a paid loan, according to RMC Sport. A factor in his decision was the promise to play as a midfielder rather than in defense, the position he was mainly used in while in Germany. The loan is not expected to include a purchase option, according to Sky. Axel Tape will undergo his medical examination during the day before signing with the club, which finished 16th in the last Liga season.

A full agreement has been reached for Axel Tape to join Levante from Bayer 04 Leverkusen on a loan move. The deal for the 19-year-old centre-back does not include an option or obligation to buy, and he is making the transfer to gain playing time. Tape joined Leverkusen in July 2025, his contract runs until 2030, and he has 4 caps for the France U19 team.
