Anton Donkor is close to leaving FC Schalke 04. According to ‘RevierSport’, the 28-year-old has been released by the Royal Blues in order to undergo a medical with a new club. The report does not specify which club it is.

According to BILD, Anton Donkor could move from Schalke to OFI Crete, a Greek first-division club. The clubs have already spoken, and the transfer now requires the player's final approval. It is reported that Crete would sign the 28-year-old on a free transfer and would meet his salary demands. Donkor would receive a net amount of €350,000, which is approximately €150,000 less than his salary in Gelsenkirchen. Schalke could contribute approximately €100,000 as a severance payment, which would save the club over €800,000.
