Widzew Łódź announced last Tuesday that 25-year-old Spanish winger Ángel Baena was departing for the Spanish second-division club Sabadell. The club's sporting director, Łukasz Masłowski, explained that Baena had for a long time been asking the management to find a solution for his future because he did not feel like staying to fight and participate in the project. Masłowski said they sought a fair solution as Baena very much wanted to return to Spain, leading to an agreement to terminate his contract. The director also added that the club wants players who are aware of their desire to be there and to be completely committed to the club, which he suggested was not entirely the case with Baena. Baena's contract with his new club runs until June 30, 2027, and his current Transfermarkt market value is €500k. He had recently been linked with other Polish clubs, including Wieczysta Kraków and Wisła Kraków.
