Inverness Caledonian Thistle have confirmed the return of last season’s top scorer, Alfie Bavidge, on loan from Aberdeen for the 2026/27 season. Bavidge had indicated earlier in the year that he was expecting to leave Aberdeen permanently this summer, but the arrival of new Dons boss Stephen Robinson led to a change regarding the forward’s future. Aberdeen manager Robinson told the Dons’ media team that they have had a chance to look at Alfie in the first week of pre-season and, following an assessment from the coaching staff, he will go on loan as part of a wider development plan to ensure his continued progression towards the first team. Robinson added it was important for the club to secure Alfie on a renewed deal as they believe in his potential, and that this season presents him with an opportunity to show what he can do at Championship level.

Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson says he will consider whether Alfie Bavidge will be part of his first team plans next season or be sent on loan to a club in the Championship. Robinson said they will assess them further during pre-season and put together the best possible development plan for each of them. He stated that the next few weeks will help determine the best pathway, which could mean remaining with the first-team squad or a loan to the Championship to play regularly, gain valuable experience and keep progressing towards their first team.
