Colchester United have signed 18-year-old English defender Alex Faux from Fulham to join their academy after he impressed during a trial period in recent weeks. The centre-back, who can also play as a right-back, has already featured for Colchester's under-18 and under-21 teams, including playing in the Professional Development League and an FA Youth Cup match against Oxford United. Faux had been with Fulham's academy since he was at the under-14 level and joined the club in 2022, having previously been with Camberley Town's youth setup and represented Aldershot Schools. Colchester describes Faux as a quick and aggressive defender who is comfortable in one-on-one situations and can play out wide because of his pace. His player profile on the Fulham FC website also described him as a tall centre-back who enjoys defending and is adept at bringing the ball out from the back to help the team move up the pitch.
