The 24-year-old has a release clause of five million euros in his contract, which is valid until the summer of 2028. Ajax is among several clubs keen on acquiring Calatrava, facing competition from teams in Spain, the MLS, Germany, and Italy. Notable interested clubs include Real Mallorca, Espanyol, Alaves, Villarreal, and Como. Although Calatrava is eager to play at the highest level in Spain, clubs from the country have not yet shown willingness to meet his release clause.
