Cagliari has renewed its interest in Alessandro Romano, a 19-year-old Swiss-Italian defensive midfielder born in 2006 who is owned by Roma. Spezia and Pescara have also been following the player for some time. Cagliari had tracked Romano in previous transfer windows, and its coach, Fabio Pisacane, has observed the midfielder closely in Primavera 1 matches and appreciates his abilities. Roma is reportedly open to a transfer, but an agreement on a formula is necessary for the deal to proceed. Cagliari's policy is to seek control over players, either through permanent acquisitions or loans that include at least a purchase option. Romano, who joined Roma in February 2024, has a contract with the club until June 30, 2027, and has been capped once for the Switzerland U20 team.
