Napoli is monitoring the performances of Alessandro Romano, an Italian-Swiss defensive midfielder and playmaker born in 2006. Romano has one cap for the Switzerland U20 team. The club's management is considering bringing in younger midfield players due to difficulties with the contract renewals of Anguissa, Lobotka, and McTominay. Other major Serie A clubs are also pursuing Romano, and Inter was the first club to scout him. Juventus is also following his progress and sent a representative to Bergamo to watch him play against Atalanta. Romano joined Cagliari in July 2026 on a loan from AS Roma that included an obligation to buy.
