Italian media indicate that Albert Gronbaek, who started the season with Genoa, could be loaned with a purchase option to Hambourg in Germany. This would be his third consecutive six-month loan after Southampton (from January to June 2025) and Genoa. Genoa are looking to part ways with him.

According to Bold.dk, both FC København and FC Midtjylland have shown initial interest in Albert Grønbæk, although concrete negotiations about a move have not yet taken place. Grønbæk is currently on an unsuccessful loan at Genoa from Rennes, having made only four Serie A appearances and played 102 minutes. He joined Genoa on a one-year loan deal in the summer of 2024, after Rennes bought him from Bodø Glimt during the same summer. Grønbæk's contract with Rennes is valid until the summer of 2029.

Genoa wants to terminate the loan of Albert Grønbaek this winter, and Albert Grønbaek no longer wants to play for the Breton club. Consequently, Rennes' management is working to find a new destination for him. Rennes' preference is to loan Albert Grønbaek out again so he can get playing time in the second half of the season. The objective for Rennes is to increase his value to recover at least the amount invested in his recruitment. Albert Grønbaek was purchased for 15 million euros in 2024. According to Transfermarkt, Albert Grønbaek is currently estimated at 8 million euros.
