Alaa Ghram Transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk to Genoa

Genoa CFC and Shakhtar Donetsk have started advanced negotiations for Alaa Ghram, a 23-year-old Tunisian international centre-back. The discussions concern a loan, but the Ukrainian club is insisting on a mandatory purchase option being included. The negotiations are currently paused as the two clubs disagree on the loan's final format. Shakhtar is seeking clear financial guarantees, whereas Genoa would prefer a more flexible arrangement. The defender wants to move after a season where he had limited appearances for Shakhtar, playing in only 2 Premier Liga matches. This situation also resulted in him losing his place in the Tunisian national team. It is reported that Ghram is eager to join a club that can offer consistent playing time to regain his position under the new national coach, Sabri Lamouchi, before the World Cup. Last summer, Cagliari had an interest in the player, but the transfer did not happen. Despite the current lack of progress in the talks, Genoa is still a preferred destination for Ghram. He is attracted to the club's sporting project and the exposure provided by Serie A. It is expected that discussions will resume soon. The defender has 6 caps for Tunisia. He joined Shakhtar in July 2024 and his contract runs until June 2029. His current valuation, according to Transfermarkt, is €1.50m.
