Al Gharafa has prioritized signing 31-year-old Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki for the upcoming summer transfer window as part of a plan to significantly strengthen their squad. The management of the Qatari club has started preliminary discussions with Rachid Bencharki, the player's brother and agent, to evaluate the possibility of a transfer and to understand his stance. After these discussions, Al Gharafa submitted a formal offer of approximately 1.2 million dollars to purchase Bencharki's contract. However, Al Ahly's response has been cautious, as the Egyptian club is seeking a fee of at least 1.8 million dollars. Al Ahly's stance is firm because it has received offers of a higher financial value from other Gulf teams, including Al Ettifaq and Al Taawoun. The club also aims to improve its financial situation and will only consider a departure for Bencharki, whose contract runs until June 2027, if the conditions are favorable. The situation is also complicated by reports that the player is no longer entirely comfortable with his role within the team. Bencharki joined Al Ahly in January 2025 and has scored 2 goals and provided 5 assists in 20 Egyptian Premier League appearances this season. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €2.20m.
