Yann Gboho, a 25-year-old French-Ivorian winger who was absent for Toulouse's match against Lille on Thursday, will not be transferred to Sporting Kansas City. Following prolonged and uncertain negotiations, the deal has been cancelled for an unspecified reason, with the negative decision arriving late in the evening. Earlier on Thursday, TFC president Olivier Cloarec had stated on Ligue 1+ that the club was awaiting a resolution and hoped for a clear outcome within hours, but that he could not say what the result would be.
The transfer to the United States could have earned the Toulouse club more than 15 million euros. Gboho is a former France U18 international, and according to Transfermarkt, his current market value is €18.00m. Toulouse's asking price for the player was reportedly €15 million in August 2026. He joined the club in January 2024 for a fee of €2.5 million. He has also been recently linked with Olympiakos Piraeus, Olympique Lyonnais, Lens, and Hull City. While Gboho could still potentially leave for Turkey, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, or Brazil, this is considered a very unlikely possibility.
