Vancouver Whitecaps are interested in Raków Częstochowa's key defender, Stratos Svarnas. The potential for a move is supported by information from Artur Płatek of the club's sports division, who previously told TVP Sport that Svarnas had been promised he could leave if an attractive offer was made. The interest from the Major League Soccer club is not new, dating back to the summer transfer window.
However, the transfer is not certain. It was stated that while Svarnas is tempted by the MLS, he is currently staying at Raków. It was also added that the outcome should not be prejudged and that squad changes would need to happen at Vancouver for a deal to be completed. Svarnas's contract with Raków is valid until June 30, 2027. The 28-year-old Greek international has 6 caps for his country, joined the Polish club in July 2023, and has made 16 appearances in the Ekstraklasa this season. His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €3.00m.
